Mosquito Control

Mosquito Control

Get the Janus Advantage Over Mosquitos

First, inspect your yard to make sure you aren’t raising your own mosquitoes. Get rid of containers that have or may hold standing water for more than five days. Look high and low—clogged rain gutters and irrigation drains, for example, often retain excess moisture where mosquitos can lay eggs.

Arboviruses

Mosquitoes spread many human diseases, and the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) spreads 26 arboviruses, including dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. Being active in the morning and early evening, Asian tiger mosquitoes are more likely to spread disease than mosquitoes that are out only at night when fewer people are outdoors.

Treatment Options

In a practical sense, the concept of complete mosquito elimination is not achievable—nuisance reduction, however, is within your control. Still, when DIY home remediation is not enough, we can help reduce mosquitoes with specially targeted yard-treatments that zero in on areas where mosquitoes lay eggs and where they rest—in shady, moist, cool areas of the yard, for example.  We can also install and maintain In2Care mosquito bait traps in your yard to further suppress mosquito development in-between yard treatments or as a stand-alone remediation tool. The removal of a single female mosquito can reduce the production of 1000 eggs. Furthermore, a 30% trap capture rate can yield an 80% reduction.

See the pictograph and accompanying video below for more information regarding the benefits of In2Care mosquito traps.

ProTip: Mosquito Repellants

Mosquito repellent containing DEET…

More Info

Mosquito repellent containing DEET works by blocking a mosquito’s CO2 receptors, making it harder to locate you. If you are outside for 90 minutes or less,  use a 7–10% DEET product.  You can always reapply but only per label recommendations—always read the label–dad voice.

Targeted Solutions for Mosquitos

In2Care Bait Traps Help Control Dooryard Mosquitoes

In2Care Mosquito Traps

The In2Care trap is primarily designed to attract and target Aedes mosquitoes. It is important to note that the Aedes is a small container breeder.  The females prefer to bite during the day, indoors, and they primarily bite humans on ankles and elbows.

Disease Vector

Aedes are known to spread yellow fever, chikungunya, and dengue fever. Other mosquito species, such as Culex, known as the common house mosquito, can also be attracted to lay eggs inside the trap.  Culex is the principal vector that spread the viruses that cause West Nile fever.

Action

The trap does not target mosquitoes when they are in search of a bloodmeal. It is designed explicitly for mosquitoes at the moment they are laying eggs. However, a high enough coverage of traps in your area will cause a decrease in the number of mosquitoes and reduce the chance of disease.
