Cockroach Control

Few bring it to bugs like Janus does

Controlling Cockroaches

roachServicing all types of residential and commercial accounts in Southern California has solidified our reputation as a leading pest management company specializing in the control and elimination of cockroach infestations. To illustrate this point, we are expert at American cockroach control in high-rise office towers. We successfully solve cockroach infestations in office suites that have their origin in the city sewer system—down some, 30 floors and 3 parking levels below the building. That calls for a certain expertise to get the job done right.

Commercial cockroach control

Some the biggest class A portfolio managers in Southern California rely on Janus Pest Management to keep their buildings free of cockroaches and other pests. We particularly enjoy the challenge that these buildings present.

German cockroach control in apartments, hotels and commercial kitchens, again, call for the same expertise to get the job done. The principles and practices of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), of which we incorporate, particularly impact the capacity for effective cockroach control in these settings.

Six Pesky Cockroach Species

Cockroaches are insects of which about 30 species out of 4,500 total are associated with human habitations. There are six species of cockroaches in California that can become pests: German cockroach, brownbanded cockroach, oriental cockroach, smokybrown cockroach, American cockroach, and the emerging Turkestan cockroach. Of these six species, the one that has the greatest potential for becoming persistent and troublesome is the German cockroach, which prefers indoor locations. Oriental and American cockroaches occasionally pose problems in moist, humid areas. However, American cockroaches can pose quite formidable challenge in high-rise office towers.

Cockroaches live in a range of environments around the world. Pest species of cockroaches adapt readily to different environments, but prefer warm conditions found within buildings. Cockroaches leave chemical trails in their feces, as well as emitting airborne pheromones for swarming and mating. These chemical trails transmit bacteria on surfaces. Other cockroaches will follow these trails to discover sources of food, water and discover where other cockroaches are hiding. Thus, cockroaches can show emergent behavior in which group or swarm behavior emerges from a simple set of individual interactions.
