When hiring a pest control company, customers will consider a variety of attributes (e.g., market presence, price, reputation, service, or the first listing in their local directory). After many years in the industry, I definitely would add field experience to the list, and promote it foremost among them.

There exists a popular assertion that it takes 5 years or 10,000 hours to reach an expert level of performance. I am inclined to agree. I think it can take that long to become proficient in many facets of commercial and residential pest control. Skill follows experience, most assuredly.

Experts estimate it can costs upwards of twice an employee’s salary to find and train a replacement. Some of that cost undoubtedly passes on to the consumer.
